This June, a team of three friends will embark on a journey, cycling form Los Angeles to New York, in an effort to generate awareness and raise financial support for diabetes research. We are riding to raise and contribute enough money, awareness, and support to ultimately find a cure for diabetes.

      Diabetes affects 23.6 million people in the United States, and is the fastest growing disease in our world today. Each year 1.6 million new cases of diabetes are diagnosed in people age 20 years and older around the world. 1 in 3 of all children born in the U.S. after the year 2000 will have diabetes by their early to mid adulthood. Diabetes often causes heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, blindness, kidney disease, nervous system disease and will likely result in an amputation of some sort. Connect for the CURE’S Ride for Diabetes, is an opportunity for us to pursue our dream. In order to attain our goals, we need the spiritual encouragement, as well as financial backing from as many sources as possible. We cannot do this alone, which is why we are asking for your support.

      The goal is to raise $100,000 by the time our journey is complete. Aside from financial donations, we are also in need of such support as: food, clothing, bicycle equipment, and shelter, for the duration of our ride. In an effort to strengthen this mission, we are teaming up with the American Diabetes Association’s tour de Cure. Contributions will generate the resources necessary to draw awareness of diabetes and advance much needed research. Connect for the CURE is a non-profit fundraiser, therefore all proceeds will go directly to the American Diabetes Association, and all donations are tax deductable. In the process of our donation, we hope to not only raise money, but also educate others about diabetes. Although these fields of support are necessary for us to reach our goals, the primary aspect we inspire our supporters to achieve, is to further diabetes research by promoting awareness and helping to secure a brighter future for those who have been directly and indirectly affected by this tragic disease in any and all factors available to them.
